FINAL THOUGHTS

Overall, it was a decent night of action in Birmingham. Some good scraps. Crocker vs. Walker was the fight of the night. Tyler Denny, the man of the moment after his win. Cameron Vuong got a good learning 10 rounds and shout out to Emma Dolan. While Conah Walker can come again, Felix Cash needs to do some soul-searching.

Aqib Fiaz was pulled from the card, and we will wait to find out why. Jack Catterall vs. Regis Prograis was announced tonight. We’ve had Eddie Hearn and Frank Warren making friends, and now Eddie and Ben Shalom in the ring together. What a time to be a boxing fan! Catch you next time. Thanks for joining me.

AND STILL THE EUROPEAN CHAMPION

The score totals are in and Tyler Denny retains his middleweight EBU belt. After five completed rounds, a technical decision keeps the belt around the Rowley Regis man’s waist.

Lee Every and Victor Loughlin had it 49-47, while Kevin Parker scored it 49-46.

“He was never lasting, man, he was tired after two rounds,” said Denny.

“I’m the man. He was desperate in there. Put some respect on my name. That’s all I’m looking for. You’ve got to put my name in the mix.”

Denny also stated that hard work pays off, and the thought of him fighting Chris Eubank Jr. or fighting for a world title is no longer laughable.

23:02:58

A CUT ABOVE THE REST

Felix Cash’s cut is too bad to continue. The cut was caused by an accidental head clash, so we go to the cards despite Denny’s celebrations. Is he still the champion? We shall soon find out…

23:00:52

DENNY LANDS THE BIG ONE

Tyler Denny landed a very solid shot at the close of the fourth round. The supposed non-puncher caught Cash as he tried to unload a big shot of his own and the challenger was wobbled. “He’s gone!” screamed trainer Errol Johnson in between sessions.

22:53:58

DETERMINED DENNY ON THE FRONT FOOT

Denny is doing what he does best, grinding away to head and body through the first quarter. Cash has neglected his jab and has suffered a cut. Cash’s new trainer, Adam Booth, told him not to load up on his shots yet.

‘THE TIME HAS COME!’ YELLS DIAMANTE AS DENNY AND CASH GET READY

The fight starts…shortly. Both men have been introduced as Tyler Denny looks to defend his EBU middleweight title. Felix Cash is the favourite, according to the oddsmakers.

CROCKER WINS AFTER A FINAL-ROUND SLUGFEST

After 10 rounds of action, Lewis Crocker wins by scores of 96-93 (twice) and 95-94, all favouring the Belfast man. The point deduction didn’t make a difference, as it turns out.

Lewis Crocker looked exhausted in the final round as he put his head down and let the big shots fly, attempting to turn things around with one final big shot. It never came, but Crocker got the win.

22:13:59

WALKER ON TOP IN BIRMINGHAM

Crocker boxed well in the seventh, landing left hooks that have damaged Walker’s right eye. Walker came roaring back in the eighth. With two rounds to go, it’s heating up.

Paddy Donovan at ringside has Walker winning the fight wide. Conah has a point deducted for low blows early in round nine. This could be a crucial call from referee Steve Gray.

22:01:24

WALKER IN THE ASCENDENCY

Conah Walker is outworking Crocker right now. The Belfast man appears to be loading up and looking for his power shots to turn the tide, but in a 10-rounder, the longer the bout wears on, the tougher it will be. Crocker’s jab is landing but he might be tiring.

21:48:48

WALKER LOOKING TO GET DOWN AND DIRTY; CROCKER SMILES

Crocker is a spiteful puncher who loves a scrap. Grinning with the confidence of a man who has just landed a powerful left hook, Crocker tucks up as Walker looks to impose his will with some rough tactics.

While Walker works, Crocker covers up and waits for his chance to let the heavy shots rip home. The commentary team feel that despite his forward momentum, Walker might be the one feeling the pace late on.

21:41:42

CONAH VERSUS THE CROC

Belfast’s Lewis Crocker and Wolverhampton’s Conah Walker are in the ring and engaging in round one of their clash. This one will be a bit of a phone box affair.

21:31:58

VICIOUS VUONG?

Cameron Vuong is the winner over Jeff Ofori on points. The man trained by Jamie Moore showed some nice moves. ‘The One’ is only 21 and had stopped three out of four opponents before the Ofori step-up.

How will Vuong’s power transfer up the levels? Nothing really fazed the Londoner across the 10 rounds. Something to monitor going forward.

21:01:59

Vuong impressive through four

Whenever Vuong moves and uses the jab, he looks smooth. Leaning back on the ropes and employing a faux shoulder roll has offered Ofori a few opportunities to land the overhand right. It’s all Cameron, for the most part, after four rounds.

20:45:27

VUONG AND OFORI SET FOR 10

Unbeaten prospect Cameron Vuong, 21, is stepping up after just five fights. Jordan Flynn is unavailable, so Tottenham’s Jeff Ofori looks to cause the upset.

20:31:26

HEART AND COURAGE ON DISPLAY

The bout is over and we have a winner. Emma Dolan is still the Commonwealth champion, adding the British super-flyweight title to her trophy cabinet as well.

Dolan knocked Ryan down early in the contest and used her physical attributes to close the bout down and prevail by split decision. Kevin Parker favoured her by 96-93 and Mark Lyson by 96-94, while Lee Every preferred Ryan’s work at 95-94. Victor Loughlin was the referee.

19:59:55

DOLAN AND RYAN READY TO RUMBLE

Commonwealth champion Emma Dolan is now in the ring, taking on Watford’s Shannon Ryan. The vacant British title is also on the line, to be contested over 10 x 2-minute rounds. Currently in round two.

19:41:11

UDDIN GETS IT DONE

Hamza Uddin goes the distance for the first time as a professional, recording an impressive six-round points win over Giulio Commerso.

The visitor was solid and presented a good test for the entertaining Walsall super-flyweight. Referee Kevin Parker scored it 60-53 (Commerso had a point deducted) in Uddin’s favour.
