Q: When and why you started boxing:

A: I started boxing because I was getting into fights when I was a kid, so I thought I might as well use my aggression in a positive way. I went to the Everton Red Triangle gym when I was 10 years old and just fell in love with the sport. I had my first bout when I was 11.

Q: Favourite all-time fighter:

A: Hard one, that. I’d have to say Mike Tyson.

Q: Best fight you’ve seen:

A: Probably the first Arturo Gatti-Micky Ward fight.

Q: Personal career highlight:

A: My best achievements so far have come in the amateurs, where I won five national titles.

Q: Toughest opponent:

A: I’ve had a few hard fights, so it wouldn’t be fair to name just one.

Q: Best and worst attributes as a boxer:

A: I’d say that my main strength is my boxing brain and IQ. As for weaknesses, I’d like to think that I haven’t got any!

Q: Training tip:

A: Train hard and stay dedicated.

Q: Favourite meal/restaurant:

A: A steak from Miller & Carter would be my favourite meal.

Q: Best friends in boxing:

A: There are no friends in boxing, lad!

Q: Other sportsman you would like to be:

A: I don’t like football, but I’d like to earn the money they get! I think I’d rather be a snooker player above anything else.

Q: Last film/TV show you saw:

A: I’ve been watching Peaky Blinders recently.

Q: Who would play you in a film of your life:

A: Tom Hardy would be my choice.

Q: Have you ever been starstruck:

A: When I met Sugar Ray Leonard. He came to visit the gym a couple of years ago.

Q: Last time you cried:

A: I think it was when my goldfish Freddie died!

Q: Best advice received:

A: Always be true to yourself.

Q: Worst rumour about yourself:

A: I haven’t heard anything yet!

Q: Something not many people know about you:

A: I’ve stopped all five of my opponents in the pros so far.
