ENGLAND’S super-heavyweight Joe Joyce had a memorable Commonwealth Games experience, winning the gold medal in the last bout of the final day at the Hydro in Glasgow.

“Just a great feeling, it’s the biggest crowd I’ve come into and to get the gold medal at such a great multi-sport games, it’s been a great experience. I’m just over the moon,” he said.

“Hopefully get some sponsorship and people behind me. I’ve verified now on Twitter so give us a follow.”

Against Australia’s Jospeh Goodall he showed his qualities, the workrate and pressure he can apply in a contest, as well as his flaw – a careless habit of letting the odd big right hand through his guard. “I’ve been working on my defence but you can’t block everything. I guess you can but with more practise,” he added cheerfully.
