HOMETOWN featherweight Jazza Dickens, 26-3 (11), headlines an MTK Global event at the Olympia this Friday (July 12), with Australia’s Nathaniel May, 21-1 (12), in the opposite corner.
A former British super-bantamweight ruler, Dickens has competed at a significantly higher level than May, including against then-WBA super-bantam king Guillermo Rigondeaux three years ago (Dickens retired after two rounds with a broken jaw). The tenacious and sturdy southpaw has registered four inside-schedule wins on the spin, but against Bunbury’s gritty May, he will likely have to settle for a points triumph over 10.
The other 10-rounder on the card features St Helens middleweight Martin Murray, 37-5-1 (17), whose adversary is yet to be confirmed. The four-time world title challenger shelved plans to retire earlier this year.
Elsewhere on the bill, Manchester portsider Terry Flanagan, 33-2 (13) – an ex-WBO lightweight belt-holder – faces Morogoro, Tanzania’s Jonas Segu, 19-8-2 (6) 1NC. The matchup is slated for eight. Broadcast duties are shared by iFL TV (UK) and ESPN+ (US).
